Examining Probate Records

It is important to search the proper indexes to estate records in the county where your ancestors resided. Many persons did not leave wills. So the intense investigation of the facts commences when you search the indexes to all estate records. This is relatively easy, but knowing which books saves time. On Georgia Pioneers.com we are doing the work for you by adding the most expedient indexes from each county. That facilitates your knowing for sure whether or not your ancestor died there, or was even there. Naturally, the wills themselves are most helpful in discovering heirs, but the estates provide good information such as the names of those receiving money or property and if you dig far enough, the annual returns will provide names of in-laws. In a real sense, the extra goodies are found in inventories, vouchers, sales, distributions and annual returns. Index to Georgia county records
