The Secrets of Finding Ancestors
Clues. One must find clues. A clue can be the name of a neighbor who witnessed a deed or those who purchased items from the Estate Sale. Since no one is going to spell it out for us, we have the wonderful task of learning the truth for ourselves. And we do it by examining census records, county records (will, estates, marriages, deeds, tax digests, etc.). Our task is to proceed by tracing the steps of those who went before us. Finding the old home place, family cemeteries, church yards, land grants, lotteries, bible records, obituaries. One of the most tedious tasks is to read local newspapers which published personal items, such as marriages, deaths, accidents, and tidbits such as who visited whom in the county. Yes, it is all there.Index to Georgia Wills-See Names of your Ancestors
